The first figurative pieces I made (that weren’t in life drawing class), cardboard columns held together with hot glue and paper, were fashioned after caryatids found on ancient porches. I made them hiding in my attic, afraid my abstract expressionist teachers and peers would laugh at me. Now I draw figures every day, freely, happily, right out in the open. I call them “Visitations,” and truly believe somehow spirits return to their old haunts and wander into the drawings. A series called, Guardian Angels, has been a great source of comfort to me and to my close people who are transitioning out of this life. If you or someone you know needs a Guardian Angel, please contact me.
Street photography has become a mainstay in my daily creative practice. I do not stage anything, adjust anything, or mess with it at all in photoshop or anything like that. I love the thrill of discovery, the world the way it is, just how I find things out there. There’s beauty everywhere. Yes, I am very insecure and embarrassed by my lack of technical skill with photography. No, I am not ashamed or insecure about what I see and not shy claiming my vision as art. Please enjoy my photographs of the world, the street, my neighborhood, just as it is. I call them, Everyday Pictures.
